I was deeply saddened to read about the death of Mr Faulds. In Grade 13, it was his English class that got me on the school bus every morning, and he is the reason I became a high school literature teacher – in two languages and three countries. He inspired me to become a Socratic teacher, and every poem, play, short story or novel that I have read, studied or taught has been with him in mind. I still have the essays I wrote for him, a couple with the much-coveted red star. Thank you, Mr Faulds, not only for your excellent wit and humour, but especially for the encouragment and kindness you showed me. My heartfelt sympathy to Mrs Faulds and family for the loss of this great man.

Bob (or Mr. Faulds as I always called him), was a wonderful person and teacher. I was in his English class in grade 12 and 13 in the mid 1970s at St. Marys DCVI, and I’ve always credited Bob for the impact his inclusive, engaging and encouraging teaching style had on me and how well it prepared me for university and the working world. He was the type of teacher who had a lasting impact, and I always looked forward to spending time with him in class. I’m very sorry to hear of Bob’s passing - my condolences to his family.

Mr. Faulds was a rare commodity and true educator. His dry wit mixed with that often-sarcastic demeanor were just the facade of a talented, compassionate teacher. His ever-present yellow cardigan and constant challenges to dive deeper, read more and discover the joy of Shakespeare still resonate. My days at DCVI were significant under his tutelage. I am honoured to have been in his class and grateful that "Sir" invested in my journey.

Mr Faulds was a one of a kind teacher. Even if we didn't always get his passion for English class. When studying a book his enthusiasm made you feel like you were in the book living it. Never understood his passion of Shakespeare until later in life. He will be missed by all and condolences to his family.

Janet and family, I remember being in Bob's English class at St Mary's Collegiate in the late 60's. He was a well liked teacher and clearly enjoyed his chosen profession. I was recently reacquainted with Jennifer and Rick through family/friends in Cambridge. It was great to share some memories, with Jennifer, about Bob or as I knew him Mr Faulds my English teacher.

Jan and family,
We are very sorry to learn of Bob's passing. I have many good memories of our years teaching together at DCVI and of staff functions and our "snowy" commutes between St. Marys and London. I valued our friendship over the many years. Our thoughts are with you and the family.

So saddened to hear of Bob's passing. He and I worked together for many years as colleagues in the English Department of St Marys D.C.V.I. Bob was the veteran and I was the rookie learning the ropes. I remember Bob as a private person with an excellent dry wit-- a fine teacher who encouraged his students to enjoy literature as much as he did. My condolences to Janet and the family. May the warm memories give you peace.

I have many fond memories of my classes with Bob Faulds at St. Marys DCVI. He was constantly challenging me to go the extra mile and to never be afraid to try new things. I became a high school English teacher like him and because of him, I have never lost my love of theatre as a director, as an actor and as an observer. RIP Mr. Faulds!

I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Faulds as a teacher when I was in high school at St.Marys and then again as a nurse while he was a resident at McGarrell. I was usually able to get some sort of familiar look from him when I would talk to him about teaching at St.Marys DCVI and mention other teachers from my time as a student there. He especially responded when I would mention Mrs. Murray. Thinking of his family while they get through this time of loss and the days that follow. A great man! I always enjoyed getting a chance to have a chat with him.
