In memory of my wonderful friend, Jarmila, I am sending my sincerest condolences to Ross and Zbynek, Dominique and Zach, and their respective spouses. Over the past 14 years, Jarmila and I shared a very special friendship. We initially connected over our love of art and nature. We both saw things through an artist's eye. We stopped to "smell the roses" everywhere and sometimes in the unlikeliest of places. After an always refreshing swim in Lake Huron, a simple walk along the beach at the Pinery became an exciting adventure, finding new treasures in the sand, and often chatting with other beachgoers. We always shared her "famous" thermos of coffee at the end of each stay. Jarmila was outgoing and friendly, and her natural curiosity about people and life was infectious. We travelled to Manitoulin and Pelee Islands, staying at friendly and cozy B&Bs. The respective owners always became big fans of Jarmila, who was never at a loss for an interesting story to tell. When it was time to create a new email address for Jarmila, I suggested "colourfuljara" as a fit description of her true personality and essence. Jarmila's passion for colour vividly expressed itself through her choice of clothes and jewellery, as well as in her love of knitting. She was a natural designer in both wool patterns and in her most recent artistic endeavours in Zentangle with pen and ink. Jarmila left this world with a sincere sense of gratefulness, and love for family and friends, and I will always be grateful for our very special friendship. With love, Carol
