Our deepest sympathy to Diane, Larry and the Van Alstyne Family on the loss of your beloved mom, grandma and great-grandma. Joan was a beautiful woman inside and out and you are all so lucky to share dna with someone who possessed so much grace, class, elegance, intelligence and kindness all mixed into one. As Diane’s friend I am grateful to have known Joan since the 1970’s and to have seen her in action, raising lovely human beings, keeping an immaculate home, creating beautiful things with her hands and appreciating her family, friendships and the arts. Here’s to a life well-lived and her beautiful legacy - all of you. Well done, Joan. May you Rest In Peace. With deepest condolences, Bill and Lori

To our beloved “Grape Nana”
Joan was such a beautiful soul. Every time that I saw her she had a big bright smile on her face which would make her beautiful blue eyes sparkle. She was so loved by her family and friends and everyone who knew her and was the best “Grape Nana” to Sutter. I am sending so much love to the entire family. She was an amazing person and had a remarkable life with many special memories that will be shared forever. We will miss you very much. Alicia Stepniak

I am so thankful to have had 65 years with my Mom. Many trips we have taken together to Montreal to visit relatives or Niagara on the Lake for the theatre or up to Wasaga Beach for some cottage time. Mom had a quiet gently grace about her but also a inner strength which carried her through some tough times in life. She loved her group activities such as bridge, golf, her theatre group as well as reading with her book club group. She used to love to cook as well and belonged to a gourmet cooking group who would get together to enjoy their creations. Mom loved family get togethers with everyone on the holidays. She will be missed dearly. Love from your daughter Diane.
