Although I we didn't see much of each other over the years, my Aunt Ruth was just that...MY Aunt Ruth. Very approachable, under any circumstances.
Years ago, my husband and I were picking friends up to go to an event for the evening. since we were quite early...(yes, I did say I was early for something), there was time for us to sit and relax with the friends before leaving their place. In the conversation, the 'neighbors' had been mentioned in a fantastic way. When their names Ruth and Mark got mentioned...and Ruth had lost her husband a while back...Don, it was quick for me to realize I was across the street from my Aunt and how could I get this close without going to say hi!
My husband was in shock when I threw my boots on and headed up the stairs and out the door. He followed me wondering why?
When we got there, he didn't think it a good idea, but I knocked on the door...only to be greeted with open arms and a 'get in here out of the cold!'
It was a small thing, but made that day so much brighter before heading back on our way to our event.
Virtual hugs to her now, and all who are affected by her passing!
