Obituary of Charles Kenneth Rose
Charles Kenneth Rose, “Ken” to those who knew him, age 70, completed this life's journey after a two-year struggle with cancer on February 26, 2021 in London, Ontario with loved ones by his side. Beloved and devoted husband for 41 years of Sharon and father to Don (Corrie), Melanie (Ken), Crissy (Ed), and Wade, to Chris (Christy) and Lisa (Mike), and to Emily (Mark). Adored Papa to grandchildren Alexis (Dan), Audrey, Austin, Brandon, Chelsea (Pat), Emily, Felix, Hannah (Andrew), Joshua, Konner, Kyle, Mackenzie, Micah, and Mitch, and to two great-grandchildren, Scarrlette and Rowan, who gave so much light to him on his darkest days.
Ken was born on July 24, 1950 to the late Alfred and Kathleen Rose. The eldest of eight sons, Ken is survived by Bob (Janine), Paul (Shirley), Randy, Brian (Donna), and Barry (Bonnie), and predeceased by Terry and Tip/Cliff.
Ken and Sharon met during a difficult time in their lives, fell in love, and committed themselves to each other and to creating a nurturing, warm and loving family together. Dad/Papa will always be remembered for his (sometimes dark and twisted) sense of humour, bad “dad jokes," love of cars, his large, capable hands that bore the scars of so many car repairs and handyman “specials,” and his quick “bark but not bite” temper that was always eclipsed by his incredibly big, generous heart.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the dedicated nurses and personal support workers who helped to care for Ken and support Sharon in their home in recent weeks and for the gracious and tender care afforded Ken and his family during his brief stay and end of life journey in the Palliative Care Unit at University Hospital in London, Ontario.
Due to COVID restrictions and other immediate circumstances, a memorial will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family appreciates donations in memory of Ken to Great Lakes Christian High School (www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/great-lakes-christian-high-school).
