Wonderful, kind man. He was my phys ed teacher, wrestling coach and friend. He would even stop and pick me up in the winter on the way to school in his station wagon even though it was full of his own kids. The last time l saw him was on the outside steps of city hall and we stopped and talked for half an hour.

I remember Gerry from his coaching days and his kindness to me whenever we met. Despite being a wrestler from another school Gerry always remembered me. We had many enjoyable conversations at wrestling events over the years. His gentle manner and ready laugh were always a feature of these conversations. What a lovely Christian man.

Looking at the great photos of your parents and family included here reminded me of our high school days and crazy times at Mrs. Scruton's when he would pick us up after dance classes always in a happy mood. Sending my best wishes to all of you, Barb

We are so sorry to hear of Gerry's passing. Our hearts go out to the Bayley family in the loss of such an amazing man and father. Rob knew Gerry from Rob's years of high school wrestling as well as refereeing wrestling. Gerry was a dedicated and motivating coach who inspired his students. We also knew Gerry from our daughter Rachel dancing at Dance Steps for many years - Gerry and Doreen were at a majority of the performances and it was always a pleasure to see his smiling face at these events. Find peace knowing what a difference he made in so many lives. He truly was an inspiration.

Mr. Bayley was one of my favorite teachers at CCH. He always took the time to chat with students and followed our involvement in extra-curricular activities, such as school teams, band & orchestra, school plays, etc. I'll never forget how welcome he made me feel, as a nervous grade 9 student in his homeroom class. His kindness and great sense of humour were much appreciated.

So sorry to hear of Mr. Bayley's death. He taught Jacqui grade 9 science at CCH and she remembers his gentle way of bringing his passion for science to his students. What a delight it was to get reacquainted with him when Chris and Dylan met and became friends in elementary school. He was indeed a gentle man; we all remember him fondly. Gerry Bayley was a beautiful man. He had all the qualities as portrayed in the Beatitudes as conveyed by Jesus in the Gospel account. He was kind and gentle, deeply spiritual and had a profound effect on his students as evidenced in the shocked responses to news of his death. His colleagues from time past will be able to share many happy memories and will mourn his passing. My deepest condolences to Doreen and all the family. May he rest in peace.

Gerry, we shall never forget your infectious smile!
I appreciated that smile when I first arrived at CCH in the early 1970s and most recently when I met Gerry on a bike path.
To Doreen and family, our profound sympathy. Gerry was a most wonderful human being who brought brightness and joy to every situation. Gerry exemplified a dedication to fitness with wrestling, jogging and biking. He was an excellent role model for generations of students. He was an inspiration to me.

I met Mr. Bayley in the mid 90s as a repeat participant of the London District Science Fair and as one of those fortunate enough to go to the Canada Wide Science Fair several times. He was one of the quietest, most patient, and gentlest people I ever met. His example of how to guide and help people has led me through my life as an educator and promoter of Citizen Science. A wonderful teacher and profound example to all of those around him. Your passing is a loss to those who will not be able to know you or learn from your example. Thank you for all you did for me and others.

The kindest gentleman I have ever had as a GR 13 Biology teacher in !965 . He made me love Science and I never wanted a double period to end. He even let one of my classmates who could not stand the smell of formaldehyde cover his dissections in Evening in Paris perfume ! He will be missed !

I am sorry to learn of the death of Gerry Bayley. He was my teacher at C.C.H., then later my teaching colleague and friend. Gerry was a very dedicated teacher and coach who helped so many students and made them better people.
No coach at C.C.H. ever surpassed the excellence he achieved with the wrestling team that dominated high school athletics under his leadership for so many years.
Gerry was a quiet, gentle, humble man who gave generously of his time and talents both to his students and to the wider community of London by his service club work for many, many years.
To his wife Doreen and to his children and entire family, I offer my sincere thanks and deepest sympathies. May this good man rest in peace!
